10 Golf Tips
In this world, you find all kinds of people who “think” they got the right advice for you. Too often you listen, you take the advice and mess it up more than help it. I was given advice last night and after really thinking about the situation, i kinda chuckled to myself and thought; yeah, sure! When it comes to golf, there are so many opinions and a large amount of advice that you can easily get consumed by. Here are ten golf tips i thought would be beneficial.
1. Play within yourself and don’t try to hit shots you’re not capable of hitting. Stick to your style of golf and play the way you play.
Jim Furyk, Tour pro
2. Here’s a great way to help you score. Instead of thinking of your round as 18 holes, divide it into three games of six holes. You’ll find it easier to concentrate and your task feels more achievable.
Gary Marks, Head pro, Worlebury GC, Somerset
3. Watch your body language between shots. Keep your chest out and your eyes above the flag while you walk down the fairway. That puts your sense of sight into peripheral vision, which helps to keep you relaxed. Act as if you are a good player and it really does help you play like one.
Maurice Campbell, Head pro, Leighton Buzzard GC
4. Never give up. My father always stressed the importance of keeping going and to always believe in my ability. However I’m doing, I’ll always try my best on the next shot.
Sergio Garcia, Tour pro
5. Stay hopeful and try until the end. It’s important to stay optimistic on the golf course. You never know when there’s a run of five birdies around the corner.
Thomas Levet, Tour pro
6. Get a lesson from a qualified pro and work hard on his advice. That way you eliminate the chances of getting yourself into bad habits – which is often what happens when you try to find the solution for yourself.
Lee Westwood, Tour pro
7. Don’t hit AT the ball – let it get in the way of your swing. Most amateurs hit the ball too hard. Lee Trevino once described impact as an accidental collision between club and ball. This is a great way to think of it.
Paul Dennis, Teaching pro, Dunham Forest G&CC
8. Hit the ball at 80% of your power capacity. Most amateurs I play with tend to try to hit the ball too hard, especially off the tee. They’d be much better off swinging more gently and concentrating on making solid contact at impact.
Ernie Els, Tour pro
9. Always take more club than you think. Most amateurs come up short – where the trouble is.
Paul Lawrie, Tour pro
10.To keep your lead wrist from breaking down-get a wrist rite.
