A Great Idea Not Just for the Off-Season.

Why Use a Golf Swing Trainer Year Round?
By Jimmy Owens

We know we should build muscle memory and keep muscle tone year round and this is an excellent way to do just that. We should also stretch prior to hitting practice balls or playing golf. I usually swing the trainers back and forth several times to help loosen up my hips and shoulders. The ones I use and weighted in the shaft and not in the club head and weight about 24 to 32 ounces. This seems to be the best weight to keep from having muscle strain. I drive a pickup and keep one of the short versions in the my door, so when I get out, I can grab it and swing it several times to loosen up right in the parking lot. I am loose and can head to the practice range or to the course.

I use two different types of trainers one has a club head on it, so if I want to, I can hit practice balls. The other one is a shorter club and can be used at home, office or even carried in your golf bag. Either version will loosen you up or build muscle memory.

I have had two hip replacements and have lost a lot of my flexibility. As we age some of us have a tendency to lose our flexibility among other things so anything we can to help prevent this greatly appreciated. The days of going from the office to the golf course, for me any way, and going to the first tee are gone.
