Golf is such a great game. It resembles life in so many ways and teaches some important qualities. I was talking with a friend the yesterday and he was saying how he was a good athlete and would get better at golf. I believe that to be the case however golf is such a precise game that getting one thing off can cause your scores to soar. Sometimes this is difficult for people to handle. One week they are consistently breaking 100 and then the next week they are shooting 120. I think this is why I see so many young players who play the game well eventually stop playing that much. It is tough to take the ups and downs so they quit. Well life gives us ups and downs over and over. I think it is how we handle these and keep going that leads to our success.
Handling the adversity, the ball in the water, the broken down car, the out of bounds shot, the loss of a job is really what determines our fate and our attitude, which is reflected out in the real world. Some things that happen to us are tough to take. A lost love one or a horrible disease like cancer, but we are only here for a short time. Losing the game means that we were able to play which is an honour in itself. Losing a loved one means we had the chance to love them. In 100 years, is it going to matter. We are all going to end up in the 19th hole so I am honoured just to be allowed to play the game. I am thankful everyday for being allowed to be alive on this wonderful planet.
