Hank Haney and Me
I went to Toronto the other night to listen to Hank Haney, Tiger Wood’s golf coach, speak along with two other people. I have heard him before and also have read his book. He is very knowledgeable and is right on in his perception of the golf swing. I have heard people say that Tiger is still influenced by Butch Harmon but Haney would be my choice of an instructor along with his mentor John Jacobs. They get it.
His main focus was the swing plane and the different reasons the ball goes where it goes. That is what we are trying to do. Get the ball to go where we want it and if it doesn’t then we are to diagnose the problem. Most problems occur with the path or plane of the golf swing. That is why you need an instructor that knows what he is talking about and the ability to change your ball flight.
It amazes me that here is the best player in the world and he sought out one of the best teachers to help him improve yet people that play this game try and do it on their own or with the help of a friend who plays just a little better than them, especially young aspiring golfers who do not have a coach.
I consider myself on parallel with all Haney and Jacobs as I have studied this game since I was 7 years old and continue to do so. I feel that so much that after the evening was over as Hank was signing his book for the people, I got in line and when it was my turn I handed him my first book along with the Wrist Rite for him to use. A little bold on my part but he was gracious and very pleasant to talk to. You can get a copy along with your Wrist Rite tool, a golf aid no golfer should be with out at www.kikogolf.com.
