The 17th

If you get a chance to watch the golf on TV this week, the course they are playing is absolutely wonderful. I have had the pleasure of playing it on two occasions and it is very beautiful.

The 17th hole is its signature hole and it is a short hole to an island green. Yes the whole green is surrounded by water and there is just a short walkway to get there. It is one of the weirdest shots in golf. It is really difficult to get your depth perception, so when you hit the ball you have no idea if it is going to hit land. This is evident by the amount of balls that go in the water by the best players in the world. Some of them hate as Ernie Els said they should blow it up but it is definitely the weirdest shot in golf.

By the way the first time I played it, I hit it on the green and I thought what is so hard about this. The next time though after posing for what I thought was a good shot the ball landed 20 yards short in the water. I thought this can’t be so I hit the same club a little harder and what do you know. I was 10 yards short in the water. As I took my 7 I humbly went on to the 18th hole which when you watch is no slouch of a hole.

There is something about being out on a wonderful golf course. Being in nature with the grass cut perfectly. Golf is a wonderful game, the least of it being able to be in harmony with nature.
