The First of the Season
Well, I played in the first big tournament of the year yesterday at North Halton Golf & Country Club. As I said yesterday, it was a best ball tournament and I played with Ken Tarling ( who wrote the forward to my first book which can be found on www.kikogolf.com). We played okay and shot three under par 69 and finished tied for 8th. We had too many bogies as we had three which is not that great in a best ball. It was most enjoyable though and the course was excellent.
This is the start of a fairly busy tournament schedule with our first area pro on Friday at Rio Vista in Fort Erie. I will update you on my progress from time to time.
It is also great to play in competition and see all the wonderful players. We have a lot of talent here in Ontario, and I think we tend to forget about the accomplishments of our own. Bob Panasik of Windsor still holds the record for being the youngest player to make the cut in a PGA event when he made the cut at 15 years old in the 1957 Canadian Open.
It kind of bugs me a little when we don’t remember some of the accomplishments of our past champions. I won’t elaborate on this as it will be the subject of a future blog but I think the more we can learn from people that have had success the easier it is for us to accomplish what we want. Have a great day!
