Local Product
I recently applied for a job that I had wanted since I was a young man, a job I felt I deserved and it was the perfect time in my career. I had thought that the stars had lined up as the person in the job had gotten a better job so it was a win win for everyone. Something happened during the process and I am not sure what. I have many speculations but I have a hard time understanding the final results.
I am a firm believer in behind every cloud there is a silver lining, so I am confident that better things will emerge. I am just having a tough time with this situation. The company went outside the area and hired someone, not recognizing one of their own community members. This is one of the problems we all are having. I received an email the other day stating how much the big three auto makers contributed to the relief efforts after Sept. 11 and it was substantially more than the other auto makers yet we keep buying foreign products, outsourcing labour and product. When are people going to look at the bigger picture and start supporting our own communities? We have local talent and if we stick together it will be way better in the long run. We must look at the long term effects or we might end up worst than we are today. We have to stop this apathy for the long term benefits of our children and future generations. It matters!
